Storia
In 1860, the residents of Fumane, a small village in the mountains at the heart of Veneto, built the Le Salette sanctuary in honor of the Madonna, whom they believed had protected their vineyards from the phylloxera epidemic. The Scamperle family, who had long owned the village's best vineyards, helped lead the effort to build the sanctuary. One of the family's vineyards, lying below the church, shares the sanctuary's name, Le Salette.
For several generations and many decades, the Scamperle family has remained closely connected to its home region, growing grapes, making wine, and gradually expanding the business. Today the family owns twenty hectares of vineyards in some of the best-known areas of Valpolicella Classico.
