Vineyard and terroir
The Aglianico is grown in Campania at 550–620 m above sea level. The vines average 11 years of age. The estate vineyard covers 11 ha.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand from late October to early November. Before maceration on the lees, the crushed grapes are divided into two batches, one placed in wooden barrels and the other in stainless-steel tanks. The two lots of must are subsequently combined.
Ageing
The combined wine spends three years in oak barrels, followed by three months in bottle.
Tasting profile
Lively in character.
Label / history
Salvatore Molettieri produced his first bottled wine in 1988. No wine was released from 1989 to 1991; the entire harvest was sold to finance barrels for ageing future vintages. The estate has made wine every year since 1992 and is now run by Salvatore and his son Giovanni, a professional oenologist.
