Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
Produced in the Langhe from Barbera, a variety historically associated with Piedmont. The name Dominae evokes Barbera’s traditional image as the queen—or “Lady in Red”—of Piedmontese red wines, with the decisive personality locally expressed in the feminine form “La Barbera.”
Grapes
100% Barbera.
Vinification
The grapes are selectively harvested by hand, then crushed and destemmed. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine macerates on the skins with daily pumping of the must over the cap.
Ageing
Final refinement takes place in oak barrels.
Tasting profile
A richly structured wine with an expansive bouquet of ripe fruit. The palate is enveloping and mouth-filling, leading to a long, persistent finish.
Serving and pairing
Pair with fondue, lasagna, stewed meat, grilled fillet and mature cheese. Cellaring potential is 5 years.
Label / history
Barbera is traditionally regarded as the queen of Piedmontese red wines. The name Dominae develops this idea of a commanding woman with a strong personality, echoing the local custom of calling the variety “La Barbera.”
