Vineyard and terroir

The grapes come from vineyards in the municipality of Barolo, the historic centre of the denomination. Its hills, dominated by Barolo castle and included in the UNESCO World Heritage landscape since 2014, have soils composed of marl and sand. These conditions allow the individual character of each vineyard to emerge.

Grapes

100% Nebbiolo.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested manually with selective picking. Fermentation takes place at controlled temperature, followed by maceration on the skins.

Ageing

The wine is aged for 38 months, including 18 months in large Slavonian oak casks, and subsequently matures in bottle.

Tasting profile

Blackberry, redcurrant pulp and sweet cherry are interwoven with delicate toasted and balsamic notes. The palate has powerful tannins balanced by a velvety, enveloping texture, followed by a fine and persistent finish.

Serving and pairing

Pair with lasagne with porcini mushrooms, Piedmontese raw-beef tartare with Parmesan, fried egg with Alba white truffle, Castelmagno or matured Parmesan. Cellaring potential is 10 years.
