Vineyard and terroir
The production area is Langhe. Favorita is cultivated in both Langhe and Roero, with the sandy Roero hills described as particularly suited to the variety.
Grapes
Favorita. Probably Ligurian in origin, it became valued by Piedmontese growers for its vigor and disease resistance. Its naturally upright shoots facilitate vineyard work, while the distribution of bunches supports even ripening.
Vinification
The grapes are selectively harvested by hand and softly pressed. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel at controlled temperature.
Ageing
Matured in stainless-steel tanks before release.
Tasting profile
Light straw yellow with fine green reflections. The nose is fragrant, fruity and distinctly floral, with rennet-apple notes. The palate is full and pleasantly tart.
Serving and pairing
Intended to be enjoyed young, particularly with delicate appetizers, fish, vegetables and white meats. Cellar life is 2 years.
Label / history
Favorita was historically prized as a table grape and was also used in blends with local red varieties. Its cultivation declined in the early twentieth century and after the Second World War, before growers renewed their interest in its potential for white wine from the 1970s onward. Its name reflects its status as a “favored grape” among Piedmontese growers.
