Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from Vignanova. The Viognier vineyard was planted in 1997, initially to enrich the Costa di Giulia blend.
Grapes
100% Viognier.
Vinification
Harvest takes place during the final two weeks of August in two passes: an earlier picking for higher acidity and a second at full ripeness. Whole clusters are pressed, and the must settles for three days at 5°C before racking. Yeasts are inoculated at the first signs of fermentation, then the wine is transferred into barriques, concrete vessels and amphorae, where alcoholic fermentation takes place. Malolactic fermentation is prevented. The frequency and duration of bâtonnage are decided through repeated tastings.
Ageing
The wine remains in barriques, concrete and amphorae until January. After blending, it rests for two months in stainless steel before bottling, followed by six months in bottle before release.
Tasting profile
A pure Viognier shaped in a Mediterranean style, balancing aromatic richness, freshness and generosity.
Label / history
GiovinRe began in 2000 after the aromatic intensity of the ripening Viognier inspired a separate varietal vinification. The vineyard itself had been planted three years earlier for use in Costa di Giulia.
Ageing potential
Up to 15 years.
