Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow on southwest-facing sites at 300–350 metres above sea level. The soils are clay with grey calcareous marl alternating with layers of sand, and the vines are up to 25 years old.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested only when fully ripe, then destemmed and gently pressed. The must ferments in stainless steel tanks at around 28 °C, followed by traditional maceration in contact with the skins and seeds.
Ageing
The wine ages for at least nine months in large Slavonian oak barrels, followed by a short period in bottle before release.
Tasting profile
Rich and well balanced, with ripe tannins and a delicate aroma.
