Vineyard and terroir
The Merlot comes from a 2 ha estate vineyard in Santa Tecla, on the hills of Assisi, at approximately 400 m above sea level. The vineyard is about 25 years old, and its soil is medium-textured with a sandy tendency. Yield is 5 tonnes per hectare.
Grapes
100% Merlot.
Vinification
Harvest takes place in early September, described more broadly in the technical sheet as the first half of the month. Once picked, the grapes are taken immediately to the cellar and destemmed. Alcoholic fermentation and maceration take place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel fermenters for approximately 15–20 days.
The wine is then transferred to 228 L French oak barriques, where malolactic fermentation takes place.
Ageing
Approximately 12 months in 228 L French oak barriques sourced from Allier, Tronçais and Nevers, followed by 12 months of bottle ageing.

Tasting profile
Intense ruby red in colour and notably complex. Aromas evoke red berries, tobacco and coffee. The palate combines freshness with savoury character, leading to a firmly tannic yet finely polished finish.
Label / history
The wine is dedicated to the Sportoletti family's father, Vittorio, who was known as “L’Avvocato.”
