Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from selected microzones and vineyards within the municipality of Appiano. The sites lie at 450–550 metres above sea level, with southeast and southwest exposures. The soils consist of limestone-gravel and moraine, and the vines are 11–33 years old.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand from late September to early October and sorted by hand. They are gently pressed, then undergo alcoholic and malolactic fermentation in oak barriques and tonneaux.
Ageing
The wine ages on its lees in barriques and tonneaux. After one year, the final blend is assembled and matured in concrete vats for at least eight months.
Tasting profile
Elegant, enveloping and refined, with an appealing aroma derived from the soils. The palate combines notable power with fresh acidity, balance and elegance. Ageing on the lees and subsequent maturation in concrete give it a softer, rounder and more complex character while preserving the grapes’ natural aromas.
