Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The Lagrein grows in the morainic and gravelly soils of the Bolzano basin, in the vineyards of Gries and Costa. Exposures are south/southeast and southwest. The vines are 8 to 20 years old. Grapes are selected with care and yields are low.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in early October. After careful selection they are fermented in stainless steel tanks, and malolactic fermentation follows.
Ageing
After malolactic fermentation the wine rests on its lees in barriques and tonneaux for 12 months. Ageing in wooden barrels brings out the harmonious character of Lagrein. Further maturation in stainless steel tanks follows.
Tasting profile
A complex red wine with a firm structure and a wide range of aromas.
Label / history
"Fallwind" is named after the wind that blows across the entire San Michele Appiano estate. The collection comes from carefully selected vineyards. The wind gives the wines distinctive aromas, freshness and ageing potential.
