Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie 300–500 metres above sea level in the communes of Kurtatsch, Tramin and Kaltern. The vines are 10 to 30 years old and grow in gravelly, chalky soils with a loamy subsoil. These conditions give the wine minerality, structure and a balanced, well-rounded character.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in late September. Fermentation and a brief ageing take place entirely in stainless steel tanks, which brings out the bright varietal character, adds no oak notes and preserves the wine's natural freshness. In Alto Adige Gewürztraminer is traditionally made in a dry style.
Tasting profile
A classic expression of the grape in an expressive fruit-and-spice style, with a rich, inviting aroma. Fresh, mineral and structured, with a balanced, well-rounded character.
Label / history
The grape's name and origins are closely linked to the village of Tramin in the historic heart of Alto Adige.
