Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the cool yet sunny communes of Appiano and Caldaro, where Pinot Noir reaches its full potential and yields remarkably structured wines. The vines are 6 to 26 years old and grow in vineyards with southern, southeastern and southwestern exposures.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in mid to late September. Primary fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the freshness of the aromas. Malolactic fermentation follows.
Ageing
After malolactic fermentation the wine is aged for 12 months in large oak barrels, which add structure without overwhelming it with new oak notes.
Tasting profile
Elegant in style, reminiscent of fine Burgundy. Full of subtle nuances, it opens up gradually in the glass. The oak adds structure without pronounced new-oak notes.
Serving and pairing
Allow 15–30 minutes to breathe before serving.
