Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from selected vineyards near Appiano, at 450–650 m above sea level. The sites face southeast and have rocky, gravelly soils rich in limestone. The vines are 10–30 years old. A cool autumn breeze known as the Fallwind contributes to the wine’s freshness and aromatic character. Sauvignon Blanc has been widely planted in Oltradige since the 1980s.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand from early to mid-September and carefully selected. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine rests on its lees until the end of February following the harvest.
Tasting profile
Lively and expressive, with an intense, distinctive aroma, freshness and a delicate mineral character. The style is elegant.
Label / history
The Fallwind collection takes its name from the wind that blows across the San Michele Appiano estate.
