Vineyard and terroir
Bosco is one of the three Brunello expressions selected from the 2018 vintage. Its fruit comes from the San Giuseppe estate, where fourteen parcels are regarded as separate entities and managed with individual decisions on pruning, canopy work and harvest timing. The vineyards are neither fertilized nor irrigated. Parcels are harvested and vinified separately before combinations are chosen to express different aspects of the growing year.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese from the 2018 vintage. All grapes are estate-grown, and the wine is composed entirely of fruit from the vintage declared on the label.
Vinification
Harvest is manual, using small crates. Once destemmed, the grapes descend by gravity into 30-quintal wooden vats. Each parcel is vinified separately, with minimal sulfur dioxide as the only addition before, during or after reception. The estate avoids a standardized recipe and adapts its work to the character of each parcel and vintage.
Ageing
Bosco spent 32 months in wood, followed by at least 34 months in bottle. The maturation cellar is 14 metres underground and naturally maintains a constant temperature. Small, thick-staved wooden barrels are generally favored. Bottles are individually filled by gravity and mature in temperature-controlled storage.
Technical data
Production comprised 6,321 bottles of 750 mL, 1,400 magnums of 1,500 mL, 70 bottles of 3,000 mL and 7 bottles of 6,000 mL.
Tasting profile
The shared character of the 2018 vintage is gentle and airy.
Serving and pairing
Uncork 20 minutes before tasting and use Burgundy-shaped glassware.
Vintage notes
Since 2016, different combinations of vineyard lots have been bottled to highlight several interpretations of a single year. Bosco represents one of the three distinct paths chosen in 2018.
