Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from San Giuseppe in Montalcino, where nine vineyards extend across 7 hectares. The estate identifies 12 distinct soil types—including galestro, calcite, clay, sand, iron and quartz—and treats every vineyard as a small cru with its own evolving character.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese.
Vinification
Each vineyard is harvested by hand into small crates and vinified separately. After destemming, gravity carries the grapes into 30-quintal wooden vats. Nothing is added before, during or after reception of the bunches except minimal doses of sulphur dioxide. The cellar does not follow a standardized recipe; decisions respond to the vineyard and vintage.
Ageing
The individual product presentation gives 19 months in wood followed by 34 months in bottle. The estate’s 2015 vintage overview instead records 21 months in wood and at least 32 months in bottle. The underground ageing cellar lies 14 metres below ground and maintains a naturally constant temperature; small barrels made from thick wood are preferred.
Technical data
The product presentation records 9,512 bottles and a 750 ml format. The estate’s 2015 overview gives a conflicting production figure of 13,700 bottles.
Tasting profile
The 2015 vintage is defined by silkiness and combines complexity with an easy-drinking character.
Serving and pairing
