Vineyard and terroir
Cielo is one of three separate Brunello expressions from 2018. It originates from the San Giuseppe estate, whose fourteen parcels are managed, harvested and vinified individually. Decisions about pruning, canopy management and harvest timing are made parcel by parcel. The vineyards are neither fertilized nor irrigated, and the final combinations are guided by how each parcel expresses the vintage.
Grapes
100% Sangiovese from the 2018 vintage, grown entirely in the estate’s own vineyards. The wine contains only fruit from the year declared on the label.
Vinification
The grapes are picked by hand into small crates and destemmed. Gravity transfers them into 30-quintal wooden vats, with each parcel vinified separately. Only minimal sulfur dioxide is added. The cellar work follows no fixed recipe, responding instead to the personality of each parcel and vintage.
Ageing
Cielo matured in wood for 31 months and then spent at least 20 months in bottle. Wood maturation takes place in a naturally temperature-stable cellar 14 metres underground, where the general preference is for small wooden barrels with thick staves. Bottles are filled one by one using gravity and continue ageing in temperature-controlled storage.
Technical data
Production comprised 7,225 bottles of 750 mL and 1,400 magnums of 1,500 mL.

Vintage notes
Beginning with 2016, the estate created distinct combinations of vineyard lots to emphasize contrasting interpretations of each growing year. Cielo is one of the three paths selected for the 2018 vintage.
