Vineyard and terroir

Rosa Amore belongs to the group of distinct Brunello expressions created from the 2016 vintage. The estate works with fourteen parcels and treats each as an individual entity, making parcel-specific decisions about pruning, canopy management and harvest timing. The soils are neither fertilized nor irrigated, and the parcels are harvested and vinified separately before the final wine is assembled.

Grapes

100% Sangiovese from the 2016 vintage. All fruit comes from the estate, and the finished wine derives entirely from the vintage declared on its label.

Vinification

Hand-picked grapes arrive in small crates. After destemming, gravity carries them into 30-quintal wooden vats, where the parcels are vinified separately. Minimal sulfur dioxide is the only addition made before, during or after reception. There is no standardized cellar recipe; vinification responds to the character of the parcels and growing year.

Ageing

Rosa Amore spent 43 months in wood and at least 64 months in bottle. The underground ageing cellar lies 14 metres below the surface and maintains a naturally constant temperature. Small wooden barrels made with thick staves are generally preferred. Bottles are individually gravity-filled and retained in temperature-controlled storage until mature.

Technical data

Production is given as 12,027 bottles of 750 mL, 1,500 magnums of 1,500 mL and 70 bottles described as “300 ML Jeroboam.”

Serving and pairing

Uncork 20 minutes before tasting and use Burgundy-shaped glassware.

Vintage notes

The 2016 growing year is described through richness, clarity and brightness. It marked the start of the estate’s practice of creating different masses to highlight the individual expression of its parcels.
