Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards lie in the historic Valpolicella Classica area on clay-limestone soils. The limestone helps retain acidity and keeps the berry aromas delicate, while the clay holds moisture and helps the vines through hot periods. The climate combines Alpine air currents with the moderating influence of Lake Garda, allowing the grapes to reach phenolic ripeness while retaining freshness.
Grapes
The wine is made from the region's traditional native grapes, primarily Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, with a small proportion of other local varieties. Corvina brings juicy cherry and berry notes and lively acidity, Corvinone adds body and depth, and Rondinella softens the texture and rounds out the palate.
Vinification
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the clean fruit character.
Ageing
The wine is aged for 6–12 months in large Slavonian oak casks and for around 3 months in bottle. The cask time softens the tannins and adds depth to the texture; bottle ageing brings the flavours together into a smooth, harmonious whole.
Tasting profile
Elegant, harmonious and expressive, with a smooth texture and refined spice. Fresh fruit, juicy cherry and berry notes and gentle spice are balanced by lively acidity. Good depth and structure. With several years of development it gradually reveals more complex notes of spice, dried herbs and forest floor.
Serving and pairing
Suited to Mediterranean dishes; described as very food-friendly and versatile.
