Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow at 150 m above sea level in south-facing vineyards with stony clay soils. The coastal setting and vineyard practices associated with white varieties shape the style; Syrah is also vinified as a white wine.
Grapes
Syrah and Vermentino.
Vinification
Harvesting is carried out by hand from dawn during the coolest part of the day, with a rigorous selection of every bunch. The fruit is rapidly delivered to the cellar, checked again and placed in the press as whole bunches under oxygen-free conditions. Extremely gentle pressure is used to avoid stressing the berries. Selected must is settled for at least 12 hours, helping remove less refined vegetal material.
Fermentation takes place at 17 °C in 600 L medium-toast French oak tonneaux, of which 20% are new. The two varieties are assembled after fermentation.
Ageing
The blend matures on its fine fermentation lees. A small quantity of Vin de Reserve—selected Syrah from the preceding harvest, vinified as a white and matured in barriques for 20 months—is added later.
Tasting profile
The 2024 wine is pale pink with rose-gold nuances. Its intense, complex bouquet opens with nectarine and small red berries, followed by citrus and a light spicy accent. The palate combines softness and a velvety texture with freshness and savouriness. Elegant tertiary notes emerge in the aftertaste. The wine is long, complex and structured.
Vintage notes
The 2024 season began with an especially mild winter and widespread rain lasting into early spring, establishing water reserves for a hot, dry summer. High temperatures supported flowering in June. Rain returned from mid-August, while normal night-time temperature variation helped preserve freshness during ripening. The harvest delivered good quality and quantity.
Label / history
The idea for this cru was inspired by sunrise over the Tenuta Ammiraglia vineyards and the soft light illuminating the Maremma coast. Conceived as the estate's signature wine, it represents the meeting of sea and vineyard, Syrah and Vermentino, and natural elegance and harmony.
