Acquisition and a new estate in Bolgheri
Fattoria La Cerretella entered the Bonacchi holdings in 2022, when Cantine Bonacchi acquired the property as its latest expansion. The acquisition brought the family company into the Bolgheri growing area and followed Andrea Bonacchi’s earlier expansion of the business into other parts of Tuscany.
La Cerretella was conceived as a new chapter for Cantine Bonacchi: an opportunity to apply the company’s experience in a coastal Tuscan territory selected for its viticultural potential and international standing. Its creation reflects a continuing search for new growing areas capable of expressing distinct interpretations of Tuscany.
The estate today
The property comprises 4 ha of vineyards in the heart of Bolgheri. Of these, 2 ha are dedicated to Bolgheri, 0.5 ha to Bolgheri Vermentino and 1.5 ha to Toscana IGT Merlot–Cabernet Sauvignon. The estate is presented as a meeting point between past experience and a forward-looking vision, with quality, tradition, care for the land and a close connection to the coastal landscape forming the basis of its identity.
Terroir
Fattoria La Cerretella lies in the heart of Bolgheri, within the commune of Castagneto Carducci on the Tuscan coast. The surrounding setting is defined by vineyards and by the meeting of the Tuscan countryside with breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea.
The estate’s viticultural environment is shaped by Mediterranean conditions, coastal proximity and an interaction among sunlight, sea and land. These elements are associated with depth, harmony and a distinct identity in the resulting wines.
Vinificazione
La Cerretella’s 4 ha of vineyards form a small, closely managed property in which each plot receives individual care and attention. Respect for the land is presented as a guiding principle of the estate’s work. The vineyard mix comprises 2 ha for Bolgheri, 0.5 ha for Bolgheri Vermentino and 1.5 ha of Merlot–Cabernet Sauvignon destined for Toscana IGT.
Filosofia
La Cerretella represents Cantine Bonacchi’s pursuit of new Tuscan territories capable of developing a clear and recognisable identity. The estate is conceived as an encounter between inherited experience and a future-facing vision, bringing the company’s background to the coastal landscape of Bolgheri.
Its stated principles centre on respect for the land, careful attention to every vineyard plot, passion for winegrowing and continuity between tradition and contemporary ambition. Quality is linked to understanding the territory and allowing the different vineyard components to interpret the elegance and complexity of Bolgheri in their own way.
