Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
Terenzuola grows the fruit in the municipalities of Fosdinovo and Carrara. Vermentino Nero is cultivated mainly in the province of Massa-Carrara in Tuscany.
Grapes
Vermentino Nero forms the majority of the blend, supplemented by up to 15% other red varieties according to the vintage. The variety nearly disappeared after the Second World War before Massa producer Porera Scurtarola helped revive it by replanting old vineyards.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in October and gently pressed. Maceration and fermentation take place in open barriques.
Ageing
The wine rests for six months in cement vats and is bottled in April of the following year. It then matures in bottle for a further month before release.
