Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the prestigious 9-hectare Conca d’Oro cru in Valpolicella Classica.
Grapes
Corvina, Oseleta and Cabernet Franc. The blend brings the indigenous grapes of Valpolicella together with an international variety planted in the cru after the wine was conceived in 1997.
Vinification
The wine macerates for 15 days under temperature control at 21–23 °C.
Ageing
Maturation begins with six months in 500-litre French oak tonneaux and continues for 12 months in 65 hl Slavonian oak casks. The wine then rests in bottle for six months.
Tasting profile
Brilliant, deep ruby red. The bouquet is rich and combines delicate herbaceous, fruity and spicy aromas with violet, ripe cherry, tobacco and vanilla. Full-bodied on the palate, it has evident yet velvety tannins and a spicy, savoury character that carries the wine to a long finish.
Label / history
Crearo was conceived during a walk on the Conca d’Oro hill in 1997. Cabernet Franc was subsequently planted in the cru to create an unconventional Valpolicella blend with Corvina and Oseleta.
