Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the prestigious La Groletta and Conca d’Oro crus in the hilly Valpolicella Classica zone. La Groletta benefits from ample sunshine and constant breezes from Lake Garda. Its microclimate encourages fruit-driven aromas and darker spice notes, producing a structured, full-bodied Amarone suited to bottle ageing.
Conca d’Oro has stony soils with active limestone. This limestone contributes fragrance, finesse and elegance, particularly through clean floral sensations, while supporting the wine’s structure, aromatic complexity and capacity to improve in bottle.
Grapes
50% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 15% Rondinella and 5% Oseleta.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested and selected by hand, then dried for approximately three months in a well-ventilated loft. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel vessels for 25 days at 25–30°C.
Appassimento is central to the traditional wines of Valpolicella Classica. Historically, selected grapes were dried for around 100 days on bamboo racks known as arele. This Amarone retains that regional drying tradition.
Ageing
The wine matures for three years in Slavonian oak. For the 2018 vintage, the technical sheet specifies casks of 35 and 65 hl.

Tasting profile
The general profile is a deep, intense ruby red with garnet nuances. The persistent bouquet combines preserved sour cherry, cooked plum and dried fruit with bitter spices, black pepper, liquorice, cocoa, mocha and wild herbs. The palate is intense, powerful and firmly structured, with a generous expression of ripe fruit and a supple, dry finish. Despite its scale, the style emphasizes elegance, balance, roundness and drinkability rather than heaviness.
The 2018 vintage is intensely ruby red. Aromas evoke steeped cherries and fig cake, accented by dried thyme, pomegranate and espresso. The full-bodied palate combines fresh, well-judged acidity with lightly firm, pleasing tannins. The flavours carry through to a persistent, spicy finish.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 18°C. Its structure and elegance suit game birds, other game, red meats and mature cheeses.
Vintage notes
In 2018, budbreak occurred during the first week of April, while flowering arrived a few days earlier than the historical average. Slightly delayed véraison finished in mid-August. Above-average August temperatures encouraged good ripening and accelerated the final stage of maturation, bringing the harvest forward to 10 September.
Each vintage develops its own nuances with time. Multiple bottles can therefore be cellared for comparative tastings over subsequent years or decades.
