1977: the first vines
Pierino Piantavigna, an ancestor of the current generation of the Francoli family, planted the first Nebbiolo vines on the hills near Ghemme.
Thirteen years later: the company takes its name
The company was founded thirteen years after the planting. It was named after Pierino, his passion for growing grapes, and the area where the Piantavigna family's plots lay, known as "la Torraccia."
1997: official founding
The company officially dates its founding to 1997, when Alessandro Francoli, president of the Luigi Francoli winery, was directly involved in its creation.
Recognition
Touring Club Italiano gave the company Eco-Friendly awards in 2014, 2017 and 2018.
Terroir
The winery is in Upper Piedmont, at the foot of Monte Rosa, on the hills near Ghemme. The Piantavigna family's plots lay in an area known as "la Torraccia."
Filosofia
Current management draws inspiration from Pierino's story. It aims to make wines with a distinctive identity and to develop the potential of the local land, while respecting the environment and the community.
