Vineyard and terroir

The Sangiovese comes from Podere Ca’Grande, whose vineyards face south and south-east. The clayey, medium-textured soil supports vines averaging 15 years of age. Yield is 80 quintals per hectare (8 tonnes per hectare).

Grapes

100% Sangiovese. The published release is the 2023 vintage.

Vinification

Fermentation takes place in vertical stainless-steel vinifiers at controlled temperature, followed by a long maceration.

Ageing

The wine matures for 18 months in 30-hectolitre Slavonian oak casks and then spends six months in stainless-steel tanks.

Technical data

Romagna DOC Sangiovese Riserva. Alcohol is 14% vol. Available in 0.750, 1.5 and 3-litre bottles. Ageing potential is seven to ten years.

Tasting profile

Deep red with garnet nuances. The broad, intense bouquet combines persistent violet with wood and roasted coffee. Dry and full on the palate, with elegant, refined tannins.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 16°C with red-meat dishes, mature cheeses or a vertical tasting of Parmigiano Reggiano.
