Vineyard and terroir
Vigna del Lago covers 18 ha at an elevation of 280 m. It lies beside a lake in a landscape of rolling hills and long rows of cypresses reminiscent of the Crete Senesi. The site has clay soils and a continental climate marked by harsh winters and very hot summers; the lake slightly moderates these conditions.
The vineyard is planted at a high density of 7,500 vines per hectare and trained to double spurred cordon. Canopy management includes leaf removal, bunch thinning and trimming.
Vinification
Harvesting is carried out by hand in crates, working in micro-areas. The grapes are destemmed and optically selected. Fermentation lasts 8–12 days at 20–28°C with gentle extraction, followed by 15–20 days of post-fermentation maceration at 30°C.
Ageing
The wine matures for 24 months in 40 hl Slavonian oak barrels in a dedicated cellar, followed by 6 months in concrete and 9–12 months in bottle.

Tasting profile
An elegant, light and savoury Brunello with a pale yet bright ruby-red colour. Its aromatic profile combines ginger, cherry, orange peel, bitter orange and dried flowers. The palate is medium-bodied, balanced and structured by silky, delicate tannins, leading to a subtly salty finish.
With age, citrus and dried-flower nuances become increasingly prominent. The wine has an ageing potential of 15–25 years and is considered to reach its ideal drinking stage after 12–15 years.
Serving and pairing
Pair with mature cheeses and white meat.
