Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from the d’Alfiero vineyard near the town of Montepulciano. The vines grow in tuff soils containing shell deposits and yield approximately 5 t/ha.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected, with only healthy, optimally ripe fruit used. Pre-fermentation maceration is followed by alcoholic fermentation under constant temperature control. Malolactic fermentation takes place in Allier oak barrels.
Ageing
The wine matures for 18 months in Allier oak barrels, followed by at least 12 months in bottle in the estate’s cellars.
