1800s

When phylloxera devastated French vineyards in the 1800s, local wines accounted for the largest share of exports to France. During this period Gaetano Giacono founded the estate.

Later generations

His descendants established Valle dell'Acate as one of Sicily's most respected wineries.

Today

The current owner, also named Gaetano Giacono, runs the estate and makes the wines.

Valle dell'Acate is on the Iblean Plateau near Vittoria, in a very fertile part of Sicily with a long winemaking tradition.

All 80 hectares of vineyards are certified organic.

The current owner produces complex wines that are also approachable, easy to drink and versatile with food.
