Vineyard and terroir

The wine comes from 6 ha of vineyards planted at a density of 4,500 vines per hectare using selected clones.

Vinification

Malolactic fermentation takes place in new barriques.

Ageing

The wine matures for two years in 2.25 hl French oak barriques, followed by one year in a 40 hl oak vat and a further year of bottle ageing. Its character develops over time through this extended maturation in oak and bottle.

Technical data

The published Riserva is the 2010 vintage. Alcohol is 15%, total acidity 5.44 g/L, volatile acidity 0.93 g/L and total dry extract 30.84 g/L. Production totals 4,500 bottles in a 750 ml format.

Tasting profile

Ruby-red shading toward garnet, with pronounced aromas of ripe fruit and spices. The palate has a distinctive character associated with Montalcino.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18°C and open the bottle several hours in advance. Pair with roasted red meats, wild game and other game dishes.
