Vineyard and terroir

Vigna Vescovo is a 0.6-hectare vineyard planted in 2017 at an average altitude of 515 metres. It extends along a gently inclined linear slope with northwest exposure. This orientation encourages slow ripening, preserving freshness and aromatic complexity.

The site was formed from Pliocene marine polygenic conglomerates approximately 3–5 million years old. Its reddish soils are moderately deep and rich in pebbles and weathered skeletal material, with a predominantly sandy loam-clay texture. They are non-calcareous and naturally acidic, well structured and well drained, with moderate water reserves. The planting layout is 75 × 230 cm.

Large day-to-night temperature variations support phenolic development and complex aroma formation while helping the grapes retain acidity. Weathered Pliocene pebbles and acidic soil promote mineral availability, contributing to persistent fruit character, perfume, spice and complexity.

Grapes

Sangiovese Grosso.

Vinification

The grapes are picked by hand. Spontaneous fermentation is followed by 20 days of maceration in stainless steel.

Ageing

The wine matures in oak for 36 months.

Tasting profile

Mineral, floral and spicy notes accompany vibrant acidity and silky tannins. The palate is enveloping and clearly structured: a soft entry leads into a broad, deep body supported by a velvety, fully integrated tannic weave. The overall style combines finesse, elegance, freshness and aromatic complexity.
