Vineyard and terroir
The vineyards occupy the southern side of a hill, on marl or clay-marl soils. The local microclimate is influenced by warm air from the nearby Adriatic and cool air from the Alps, which meet on the slopes of Capriva del Friuli. Across the estate, planting density ranges from 4,500 to 7,000 vines per hectare to promote concentration.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in late September and gently destemmed. Fermentation is followed by 15 days of maceration.
Ageing
Part of the wine matures for 12–15 months in small oak barrels, while the remainder is kept in stainless-steel tanks. It then rests for about five months after bottling.
Label / history
Annual production is approximately 18,000 bottles.
