Questo vino
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit comes from a vineyard whose soil contains an exceptional abundance of fossil shells. This feature gives the wine a distinctive, pleasantly savoury character. Rosé Vitalonga was the estate’s first organic wine.
Grapes
A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon; the proportions are not specified.
Vinification
The grapes are picked in the early morning, allowing intact, healthy berries to reach the cellar without stress from high daytime temperatures. They undergo 48 hours of cold maceration at controlled temperature. Alcoholic fermentation then takes place without the skins in stainless-steel tanks. Malolactic fermentation is prevented.
Ageing
Following bottling, the wine rests for several months before release.
Tasting profile
Deep salmon pink. The generous bouquet evokes sour cherry, strawberry preserve and wild herbs. Bright fruit unfolds across a fresh palate framed by lively acidity and mineral definition, leading to a long, balanced finish. Unusually full-bodied for a rosé, it combines freshness and versatility with a refined bouquet.
Serving and pairing
Its full body, freshness and versatility make it adaptable to unconventional pairings.
Awards and recognition
The published recognitions comprise 91 points from Wine Enthusiast, Two Glasses from Gambero Rosso, a Quality/Price Oscar and 86 points from Veronelli; vintages and award years are not identified.
