Storia
1888
The story of Villa Canestrari dates back to 1888, when Carlo Bonuzzi graduated from the Royal School of Oenology in Conegliano Veneto. By then he already owned many vineyards in Val d'Illasi. His new knowledge of wine helped the established family business thrive.
1990s
In the 1990s the Bonuzzi and Franchi families joined forces, beginning a new chapter for the winery. This was also when the company became known as Villa Canestrari.
Wine museum
A wine museum has been built next to the winery. It shows the winemaking process as it was in the time when Carlo Bonuzzi ran the winery, and displays rare pieces of agricultural machinery. It also has a conference hall where wine tastings and other wine-related events are held.
Terroir
The vineyards are located in two areas, Valpolicella and Soave. Their different microclimates allow each grape variety to be grown in the conditions that suit it best. Carlo Bonuzzi's early vineyards were in Val d'Illasi.
Vinificazione
Each grape variety is grown in the area, Valpolicella or Soave, whose microclimate suits it best.
The wines are exported to many parts of the world. A wine museum next to the winery presents the winemaking process from the time of Carlo Bonuzzi.
Filosofia
The winery says its philosophy rests on three principles: the integrity of the local area, loyalty to tradition, and consistently high product quality.
