About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

Selected vineyards in Magrè and Ora lie at 210–280 m a.s.l. Their sandy, rocky soils contain limestone. Magrè is also home to the Löwengang Estate, established by the family in 1934. The estate has worked with Merlot for several decades, while Merlot and other Bordeaux varieties have been cultivated in Alto Adige for more than 120 years.

Grapes

Merlot.

Vinification

Maceration takes place in stainless-steel tanks. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation.

Ageing

Maturation lasts approximately 12 months and uses stainless-steel tanks, large casks and concrete vessels.

Technical data

The 2023 vintage has 12% alcohol by volume and an estimated drinking window of 2–5 years.

Tasting profile

Deep cherry-red. The discreet bouquet combines fruit with spicy notes. The palate is medium-bodied and well built, with savoury fruit, spice and a juicy character.
