About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow at 280–310 metres above sea level in mineral-rich soils. The estate has more than 100 hectares of vineyards, 80% of which are planted to Nebbiolo.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested and selected by hand, with strict checks on ripeness. The wine is made using the traditional Charmat method and ferments in underground cellars in the heart of the hill.
Tasting profile
Harmonious and mineral.
Label / history
The wine is dedicated to Carlo Arlunno’s wife, Ida Coste Arlunno. Its label reproduces a photograph of Ida at the age of 16 beside her fiancé, Carlo.
Winemaking in the Novara Plain has ancient roots. Evidence suggests that Celts living on the Novara hilltops in the fourth–fifth millennium BC knew winemaking traditions; ceramic bowls and wine-drinking cups have been found there. Vineyards still occupy these hills.
The Arlunno family’s winegrowing history extends back at least four centuries. The estate’s modern period began in 1969, when Carlo Arlunno expanded the vineyards, replanted old sites and built a new winery.
