About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Nebbiolo comes from the estate's three finest vineyards: Osso San Grato, Le Castelle and San Francesco. The vines are 50–60 years old and planted in volcanic soils on south- and southwest-facing slopes.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand and carefully sorted at the winery. Vinification takes place in a cement tank, with spontaneous fermentation and a maceration of 18 days. The wine is natural.
Ageing
The wine ages for 36 months in casks of 25–35 hectolitres made from Slavonian and French oak, followed by a final year of bottle ageing.
Serving and pairing
It suits refined red meat dishes and fine cheeses.
Label / history
This is the Riserva bottling. Antoniolo produces 1,500 cases of Gattinara Riserva each year.
