About this wine

Poggio Belvedere Rosso is an Umbria Rosso IGT conceived to express the character of Umbria and its straightforward, richly cultivated landscape. The first vintage was produced in 1998.

Grapes

80% Sangiovese and 20% Ciliegiolo.

Vineyard and cultivation

The vines are trained using spurred cordon and Guyot systems. Planting density is 4,000–5,000 vines per hectare, with a yield of 110 quintals per hectare. Harvest takes place in late September, specifically during the final ten days of the month.

Ageing

The wine matures for four months in stainless steel, followed by at least four months in bottle before release.

Technical data

Umbria Rosso IGT. First vintage: 1998. Annual production: 90,000 bottles. Bottle format: 0.75 L.

Tasting profile

Ruby red with violet reflections. The aroma is fresh and pleasantly spicy. On the palate it is elegant, soft and full-bodied.

Serving and pairing

Serve at 18°C. Its supple, elegant profile suits red meat and cheese, while also allowing pairings with lighter, less elaborate dishes. Expected ageing potential is three to five years.
