About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown at the Contrada Baroni estate in Noto, where green harvesting is practised.
Grapes
Moscato di Noto is used.
Vinification
The grapes are hand-picked in two stages. Slightly underripe fruit is harvested in August to retain high acidity, while naturally raisined grapes remain on the vines until September to develop the variety’s character. After destemming and careful sorting, the two harvests are vinified separately using different methods.
Ageing
The early-harvest wine rests in stainless-steel tanks for at least one year, while the late-harvest wine matures in medium-toast French oak barrels. After blending, the wine ages in bottle for at least two years.
Tasting profile
Golden and copper tones accompany an elegant, rich and balanced character.
Label / history
“Ra’is” means “chief” in Arabic and was once a term for the head fisherman who led the tuna fishing.
