About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Merlot and Nero d’Avola grow on clay-limestone soils.
Vinification
The grapes are hand-harvested from mid-September through the first ten days of October, collected in 20 kg crates and transported to the winery. After destemming and gentle pressing, the Nero d’Avola undergoes natural maceration for 18–22 days in tanks holding up to 150 hl. The Merlot is fermented traditionally.
Ageing
The wine matures in small oak barrels that are either new or one year old.
Label / history
Ramione was created in honour of the winery’s former owner, Baron Antonio Palizzolo of Ramione.
