About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from vineyards in Monforte d'Alba. The vines grow on southwest-facing slopes at around 270 m above sea level, in calcareous, loamy soils. The exposure gives the grapes an ideal amount of sunshine, while the soils bring freshness and acidity.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and destemmed. Fermentation is spontaneous, with wild yeasts, in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wild yeasts give the wine a distinctive, terroir-driven character.
Ageing
The wine ages for 9 months in 500-litre oak barrels, becoming softer, more complex and deeper over time.
Tasting profile
Refined, with a balanced, engaging aroma. Expressive fruit and berry notes come together with hints of spice. The structure is soft and easy to enjoy. The wine captures the lively character of Barbera.
