About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes come from the "Casteliero", "Coste di Rose" and "Preda" vineyards in Barolo. Soils are limestone, loamy-sandy and marl, at 250–270 m above sea level. The plots face east and southwest. The vines are farmed organically.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and selected in the vineyards. At the winery they are destemmed and gently pressed. Alcoholic fermentation uses wild yeasts. Maceration is extended, lasting about 15–30 days.
Ageing
The wine ages for 30 months in French oak barrels, which give it spicy aromas and a rounder texture.
Tasting profile
Elegant, inviting and intriguing, with a more pronounced fruit character than the estate's other wines, which makes it lighter and more approachable. Delicate, with a clean, natural style. Maceration adds depth and structure; oak adds spice and roundness.
