About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The Nebbiolo comes from Monvigliero and Boscatto, two historic vineyards in Verduno. The vines are around 50 years old and give small yields of intensely flavoured grapes. Clay-limestone soils help retain acidity and accentuate mineral character, while the clay contributes concentration. Warm days and cool nights preserve freshness.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, with around 15 days of skin contact.
Ageing
The wines from the two vineyards mature separately in large oak barrels for five years. They are then blended and aged together for a further five years.
Tasting profile
Powerful, refined and complex, with the developed character of mature Barolo. Deep flavours are supported by firm, well-defined tannins, freshness and mineral character. The 2016 combines concentration and structure with elegance, balance and harmony.
