Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown in vineyards near Lake Garda, on limestone and clay soils.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested in September. Molinara and Merlot are fermented separately with their skins in steel tanks, then blended.
Ageing
The blended wine rests on its lees for three months in stainless-steel tanks.

Label / history
Bertani was founded in the mid-19th century in Quinto di Valpantena, north of Verona, by the brothers Giovanni Battista and Gaetano Bertani. Their approach was influenced by meeting Mr Guyot, a prominent figure in the contemporary wine industry. From the outset, they introduced new methods of grape cultivation and winemaking and were the first in their context to sell wine in bottles rather than the then-traditional oak barrels.
In 1888, nearly 30 years after the winery’s foundation, Verona’s Academy of Agriculture, Arts and Commerce assessed their work from scientific and practical perspectives and awarded them a special gold prize. The estate now covers 130 hectares around the family’s historic 18th-century villa, while its cellars and winery are in Grezzana.
