About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The fruit grows on the hills within the town of Valdobbiadene, in the Cartizze site. Its mild microclimate, abundant sunshine and mineral-rich soils produce grapes with a rounder, sweeter taste and floral and fruity aromas. Historically, grapes of particularly fine quality have come from just a few hectares here.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested entirely by hand at optimal ripeness and gently pressed. Only the free-run juice is used, with a maximum yield of 70 L per 100 kg of grapes. The juice is cold-settled in steel tanks at 5–10 °C for 10–12 hours. The clarified must then ferments in stainless-steel tanks at a constant 18–20 °C for approximately 15–20 days to produce the base wine.
Secondary fermentation follows the Italian Charmat method: the base wine ferments with sugar and yeast in sealed autoclaves. This preserves the fruit’s original aromas and develops its floral and fruity character.
Ageing
After bottling, the wine rests for 30–40 days before release.
Tasting profile
Refined, with a distinctive fruity and floral character.
Label / history
The bottle’s winding form recalls a grapevine, while the label colour evokes the rich soil of Valdobbiadene. The patented curved bottle is designed to make pouring easier.
The design was inspired by a large twisting branch that founder Angelo showed his son Desiderio while they were preparing vines for the coming season. Desiderio developed the bottle from the way his father held the branch like a bottle of sparkling wine.
The new format was unveiled at Vinitaly in 2015. It received the Gold Label award and placed first in the sparkling-wine category at the International Packaging Competition.
