About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The grapes grow in the 45 ha Marcellise vineyard, which extends across hills and plains in the municipality of Marcellise at 150–250 metres above sea level. Brigaldara has cultivated the site since 2004, although its first vines were planted between 1970 and 1980. The vineyard has well-drained soils and receives abundant sunshine and warmth.

Vinification

Harvest timing is chosen carefully to preserve the acidity underlying the wine’s delicate character. The grapes are picked by hand in the second half of October and collected in 200 kg crates. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at 22–24 °C, with regular pump-overs and délestage to retain freshness and delicate aromas.

Ageing

The wine remains on its lees in steel tanks for six months.

Tasting profile

The aroma is pleasantly fruity. The palate is soft, balanced and well structured, with a bright, fresh character and delicate aromas.

Vintage notes

In Veneto, the winter and spring of 2022 brought almost no rainfall and unusual temperatures. Budbreak was late, initially suggesting slow development, but high temperatures and severe drought brought flowering forward by ten days. The summer included 50 very hot days. Rain in late August and early September helped the grapes reach ideal ripeness while retaining acidity and relative freshness. Yields were approximately 20% below the average of the preceding five years. The vintage was expected to show its full sensory qualities from 2023 to 2025.
