About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow on vines 15–16 years old, planted in Santa Maria di La Morra.
Grapes
The variety is Nebbiolo Lampia.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand. Fermentation and a 10-day maceration take place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks, with regular pumping over during maceration. Fermentation peaks at 29 °C, which allows good polyphenol extraction while limiting the loss of fruit aromas. Malolactic fermentation follows in 500-litre oak barrels.
Ageing
The wine ages for 6 months on the fine lees in oak tonneaux, which preserves the qualities that clearly express the Nebbiolo grape and its native terroir. Before bottling it matures for a further period in concrete tanks.
Tasting profile
A fragrant, juicy red with a delicate structure and appealing berry and fruit notes on nose and palate. The young 2023 is surprisingly reminiscent of a young Barolo. The aroma is layered, combining wild berries with floral, woodland and spicy nuances, among others.
Serving and pairing
Decanting for 2–3 hours is recommended. It works with classic food pairings; Asian steamed bao buns are suggested as an unconventional match.
