About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes grow across three plots in the La Morra area, on vines between 30 and 70 years old.
Grapes
The variety is Nebbiolo Lampia.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand, destemmed and pressed. Spontaneous fermentation at controlled temperature and 30 days of skin maceration take place in stainless-steel tanks.
Ageing
The wine is aged in large 60 hL Austrian oak casks, then spends another year in concrete tanks to help achieve a better structural balance.
Tasting profile
Youthful, modern yet traditional, combining power and freshness. The nose is appealing and full of fruit and berries, with a subtle exotic touch. The palate is structured, highly expressive and savoury, with dark fruit notes and remarkable depth, already evident despite the wine's youth.
Serving and pairing
Extended decanting is recommended before serving. It suits classic food pairings; a less usual suggestion is Sichuan-style lamb.
Vintage notes
No weather information is given for 2021.
Label / history
Traditionally, Barolo was made by blending grapes from different microzones, combining the strengths of each; single-cru wines came later. With this wine Alberto Burzi returns to that tradition, combining the structure and aromas of different vineyards to make a classic, representative Barolo from La Morra.
