About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
Canorei is a 2.50 ha cru monopole in Piobesi d’Alba: the entire delimited Additional Geographical Mention lies within the Tenuta Carretta estate. The vineyard occupies the southernmost part of the property, close to the cellar. Its position provides full sun exposure and promotes grape ripening. The highly draining Roero soils are sandy and rich in limestone.
Grapes
100% Arneis, with a stated yield of 70 q/ha.
Vinification
The grapes undergo gentle pneumatic pressing followed by cold maceration for 24 hours at 10°C. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at 18–20°C.
Ageing
The wine spends at least 12 months in tonneaux on its fine lees, a regimen intended to build aromatic complexity and palate fullness. Ageing continues for a further 12 months in bottle.
Technical data
Produced in 0.375 L, 0.75 L, 1.5 L, 3 L, 6 L, 9 L and 12 L formats. The inaugural vintage was 1994.
Tasting profile
Deep straw yellow with golden highlights. Vanilla, white flowers, honey and exotic fruit shape the bouquet. The palate is warm, full and enveloping, with sufficient acidity to provide freshness and persistence.
Serving and pairing
Serve at 12–14°C. Its structure suits service throughout a meal, including appetizers, risotto, white meats, and fresh or medium-aged cheeses.
