About this wine
Vineyard and terroir
The grapes are grown on a west-facing slope from vines averaging around 25 years of age.
Grapes
Freisa is a local variety and one of the oldest grape varieties in the Costigliole d’Asti area, producing wines of strong, distinctive character.
Vinification
The grapes are harvested by hand in early October, destemmed and gently pressed. Fermentation with native yeasts and a 30-day skin maceration take place in cement tanks, followed by malolactic fermentation. The wine is bottled without filtration or fining. Sulfites are added at bottling in extremely small amounts, if at all.
Ageing
The wine ages for one year in old barrels.
Tasting profile
