About this wine

Vineyard and terroir

The Sauvignon Blanc is grown in the Mitterdorf vineyard at the Leisenhof estate in Caldaro, Alto Adige. The vineyard lies at 500 m above sea level and has well-drained clay and sandy soils. The vines are trained using the Guyot system.

Vinification

The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and undergo cold maceration. Fermentation takes place in stainless-steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 15–18 °C.

Ageing

The wine rests on its fine lees in stainless-steel tanks for four months.

Tasting profile

Lively.

Label / history

Winemaking in the area predates the Romans and may date back to the Iron Age. It continued to develop during the Middle Ages through the work of monastery workers.
